South Plainfield, NJ – Cookson Electronics’ QC/Analytical laboratory located in Altoona, Pa., was officially granted its ISO 17025 Management System accreditation by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). Compliance and accreditation to ISO 17025 attests to the laboratory’s professional expertise in carrying out tests and/or calibration services, including sampling, using standard, non-standard, and/or laboratory-developed methods to generate technically valid test results.
“Paramount in the structure of Altoona’s ‘Good Laboratory Practices’ was the teamwork involved by all laboratory personnel, led by Lee Ann Olsick, Analytical Lab Supervisor,” said Ed Wilk, Altoona QA Manager.
The ISO 17025 International Standard is for use by laboratories in developing their management system for quality, administrative and technical operations. Laboratory customers and regulatory authorities may use accreditation status to confirm or recognize the competence of laboratories.
“Through Lee Ann Olsick’s experience, perseverance and drive, the assessment audit directly resulted in the exceptional results Cookson achieved,” said Nicholas Banis, VP, WW Quality Assurance. “Further, the teamwork, effort and results of the Altoona lab, combined with this important accreditation, will result in increased business from outside customers requiring testing from an accredited laboratory.”
In addition to Cookson’s ISO 17025 Management System accreditation, the Altoona site observed a 13 year anniversary of its ISO 9001 certification.
