Paris--The French News Digest reported that Automa Tech completed on December 31, 2005 the acquisition of its main North-American rival, U.S. optical components and systems company PerkinElmer Optoelectronics SC, effective January 1, 2006.
Automa-Tech will manage the acquired company as an autonomous entity and will keep on developing this acknowledged brand. The main effects expected from the move for the Automa-Tech group include an additional turnover of between $8 million (6.7 million euro) and $10 million (8.4 million euro), in a short run, and a favorable contribution to the group's profits as of the second year of the acquisition. Automa-Tech also gets access to a customer base which is 70 percent complementary to its own portfolio. In addition, the French group gains an extended product range and a stronger presence on the North American market, as well as a better coverage of the global market.
