The equipment market was led by sales of cellular handsets with $118 billion in revenue. The cost of goods sold (COGS) for all communications equipment was $192 billion in 2005, for an industry gross margin of 38 percent. About 67 percent of the equipment manufacturing occurred in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
